Review of Saving Mr. Banks (2013) by Alex E — 02 Jul 2014
As far as Disney movies go, there are any number of reactions. There are the ones that are amazing like "Frozen", and then there are the not so good ones. This one falls somewhere in the middle.
While I may not have watched "Mary Poppins" as much as some, I found it very interesting to find out the back story behind it. This story was fleshed out with a strong cast, who performed their given roles well.
However, given all the good with the movie, I feel like it wasn't as strong as it could be at some points. There were moments when it dug into Travers' past that were essential to the story, but those were the moments where I felt like the story and its characters stumbled most.
Although, I thought the rest of the movie did well, I feel like the moments where it lost my focus really hurt the movie as a whole and made it less spectacular than it could have been. Worth seeing, but I don't know if I would see it more than once.
