Review of Saving Mr. Banks (2013) by Danny O — 15 Jul 2014
Saving Mr. Banks is about as likable as a movie gets. Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks are great as the two leads. We get to see a behind the scenes look at how Mary Poppins was created and the struggle Walt Disney had to adapt PL Travers beloved novel to the big screen.
Getting to see the iconic characters and songs from the film be created was well done. Travers back story is an emotional tearjerker, and her character is given clear reasoning for her unlikable persona.
I was hoping to see more of the movie making aspect, but what we do get is great. There isn't a lot to criticize, and you will leave the movie satisfied. Saving Mr. Banks gets a 4/5 stars (A-).
