Review of Saving Mr. Banks (2013) by Iain M — 09 May 2015
An mildly enjoyable tale but ultimately flawed; the Disney Corporation have spun this story to protect their brand, and to achieve this Emma Thompson's performance is over-the-top, mis-directed and without credibility.
The film ends implying Travers grudging acceptance of the Disney treatment of her story, but this is nonsense - Travers felt betrayed, refused to allow any other Mary Poppins stories to be filmed, and never spoke to Walt Disney again.
