Review of Saving Face (2004) by Gadsya N — 10 Aug 2007
Good commentary on the dynamics of relationships between Asian-American familes. speciffically those who have traditionally lived in an ethnic enclave for the majority of your life. The challenges of breaking-tradition and (obviously) saving face were handled in delicate was and were neither sugar-coated or met with utter hoplessness.
There was some wonderful mirroring between the mother and daughter, both in story line and in the cinematography. I had some objections with the story line, but overall the film was good.
