Review of Saved (2009) by Alex C — 20 Jan 2009
For me, this was my favorite comedy of 2004. I just thought it was just a lot of fun. It was a movie that reminded me of the great John Hughes comedies of the 80's, but just in a Christian high school.
And the film is a great film about tolerance, how shows teens can be outcast due to diasablities, religion, and sexual choices. Plus, I thought that this was one of the more honest films about dealing with teenage pregnency.
And it all does this without being too sappy. Sure the film ends with the high school prom and an everybody becomes happy at the end, but the journey there is really fun and insightful. I thought that the cast was great, particulary Eva Amurri as the lone Jewish student at a the school, and Mandy Moore as the popular girl with a strong belief in her faith.
I got to say that there just something about this movie that really gets me everytime I see it.
