Review of Saved (2009) by Tanya L — 12 Jul 2009
SAVED was terrific.
Writers Michael Urban and Brian Dannelly deliver a smart "teen comedy." It manages to dig at the dogma of religion, really without offending the religion. Rather the digs ultimately show us a way to maybe more patience and acceptance of others.
Director Brian Dannelly creates an atmosphere of fun, with some serious stuff going on. His actors - Jena Malone, Mandy Moore, Macaulay Culkin, Heather Matarazzo, Eva Amurri, Mary-Louise Parker, Martin Donovan and Patrick Fugit - blend exceptionally well together as an ensemble.
I'm tempted to say that I'm saving "Saved" so that I can see it again!
