Review of Saved (2009) by Bastet 0 — 16 Nov 2010
I put off seeing this a while but am glad to have finally watched it- having grown up in a Christian household with a very devout mother, this was a satire I could totally understand.
Mandy Moore as the goody two shoes uber Christian- who is unable to see her own failings and selfishness reminded me of quite a few girls I knew from school. Macauly Culkin's portrayal of her brother was a very likable character- the yin to Moore's yang really.
I would recommend this to anyone who has been involved with the church and may have been burned, or at least has an open mind to satire. I'm sure the anti-christian people will get the comedy as well, but I really felt this was designed for people with similar familiarity to the church as I had growing up.
