Review of Saved (2009) by Anthony B — 05 Feb 2018
By no means hilarious but still funny, amusing, and sweet with an impressive collaborative effort from its young underdog cast. As far as religious satires go, Saved! definitely pulls some punches and ultimately plays it a little too safe but at its best it reminded me of the adorable 90s teen comedies that existed in a very specific time and place that I am very fond of.
If you go into this movie expecting the edginess of Dogma or Pretty Persuasion you will be sorely disappointed but if you are a diehard fan of Amy Heckerling films like Clueless, you should find the nostalgia value here to be through the roof.
