Review of Save the Tiger (1973) by Nicole S — 01 Jul 2008
Almost a perfect screenplay, save for some late indulgences (the name-game, though a great indicator of generational divide and decay, gets a bit redundant). Sure, Jack Lemmon's career is full of outstanding performances; his technical proficiency--his TIMING--is mind-boggling.
But watch closely when he says, "I just want to feel love for something." It's one of those rare moments in cinema when an actor pulls aside the curtain and, for a precious span of seconds, gives you a glimpse of his soul.
And the Oscar goes to...? Yep.
