(2001) Save The Last Dance.
DRAMA.
Okay, on the first 5 minutes, has Julia Stiles as Sara losing her biological single mother after a car accident, resulting to her to move to a whole new city to live with her father to a new school dominated by African Americans. While their she meets Derek (Sean Patrick Thomas) and of course strike up a relationship upon inviting her to a dance club and the rest of the film dwells on their personal problems and their ambitons as they have to overcome many obstacles.
Upon watching this film, the dancing shown on this film was obviously nothing but a backdrop to the many subplots and stereotypes regarding race relations etc... which is nothing new but because they're some genuine acting by it's two main leads, this film is better than your average soap opera film since they're less cringing moments but does contain some pointless dancing routines that anyone can do if people were to have both their hands and feet. And while this one has better acting, I thought the second one was still slightly better since it does express more believable conflictions upon becoming a dancer as a serious profession.
2.5 out of 4.
