Review of Save the Last Dance (2001) by Bernie L — 13 Mar 2013
Julia Stiles, a great actress, is the only actress with that tough and sensitive balance to believably play this kind of role. As suburban Sarah thrown into the depths of a black culture she connects with the smart and talented Derek (Sean Patrick Thomas) as he struggles with trying to leave the "thug life" behind.
The dancing is superb and it's an interesting approach on the whole teen romance high school thing with some very likeable characters and dysfucntional relationships. On the rewatch, holds up well for being 12 years old.
