Review of Savages (2012) by Connor F — 27 Feb 2013
Stone's usual gratuitous, intense style shines again in Savages with a Spaghetti Western and hostage blend thrown in too. The key drawbacks here are Blake Lively's lazy and pointless narration as well as an ending that may leave you scratching your head.
Del Toro easily steals the show as the ruthless and merciless gangster he plays so effortlessly. Bloody action shines and is worth the wait if you can handle a few groan-worthy slow parts thrown in between.
