Review of Savages (2012) by Shaun K L — 20 Mar 2013

I have to admit I didn't know if I would like this due to the fact I felt that like so many directors that stone was trying to stay hip and relevant, which yes it true but I think that this story based on a book was a very interesting concept. Stone really created a fascinating look into the drug world.

This film is full on in parts such as a lot of violent scenes. I thought all the acting was great, Del Toro is always great at playing creepy and scary characters and this performance is no exception..

The best and most interesting character and character arc was Aaron Johnson's character Ben who was this peaceful and non violent caring person who wouldn't hurt a fly and due to all the things that happen to him and the others he has to become the thing her never wanted a killer. You can see the change especially in the torture scene where once he crosses that line there is no going back.
