If only Stone could work with someone who would edit his ideas into something more credible it would be a blessing for sure - you can assemble a great cast and have all the lavish cinematography you like, but if the characters are all cliches that generate no emotional involvement all you have is a bunch of nasty people doing nasty things to each other, all photographed very nicely.
