Review of Savage Grace (2007) by Ann D — 15 Jan 2009

So, so, SO bad. julianne needs to be more selective about the movies she does...this is humiliating and sad to watch an actress of her caliber do this... she's always been a risk taker, but this movie was all risk, no reward-- her great acting skills having gone to waste in such a poorly constructed and directed movie.

playing a profoundly unpleasant character, moore still manages to add some shade and texture. the way she smokes cigarettes, for instance, manages to convey so much about her panic and need for incessant stimulation.

the way in which she turns from obsequiousness to brazen emotional violence. and name another actress who could say "did you come?" (to her son who she had just been riding *shudder*) with as much harrowing pathos.

..still this has gotta be one of the worst movies ive seen in a long long time. and julianne moore is trapped inside of it, trying to maintain her dignity while literally and figuratively getting fucked in the ass.
