Julianne Moore is phenomenal as the eccentric socialite Barbara Daly Baekland who led a lonely life and had numerous affairs, including with her own son. Eddie Redmayne is great as well in a breakout performance.
The plot meanders at times, and the script could have a stronger thematic anchor, but the performances make this film.
