Review of Savage Dawn (1985) by Kevin B — 25 Mar 2011
This movie really is a mess, but a (barely) enjoyable one. One of the biggest problems with it is that Lance Henriksen--the anti-hero of the piece--has little to do until the end. If, however, you'd like to see Richard Lynch as a sexually promiscuous preacher/mayor, George Kennedy as a crippled former mercenary firing homemade RPGs, William Forsythe as a bike gang leader named "Pig Iron", and Karen Black chewing the scenery before she's crushed by a tank (yes, a tank)--then this is the movie for you.
Plus, there's a midget.
