Review of Sausage Party (2016) by Andrew J — 13 Mar 2017
How long can you stretch a sex joke about a sausage in love with a bun? Apparently for 89 minutes.
I have no issues with crude humor or sex jokes. But something about them being combined with talking food just makes it all rather disturbing.
Then you have the constant "shit" and "fuck" coming out of their mouths(?) , as if this was written by a 14-year old trying to be edgy.
I tend not to like Seth Rogen movies, but I keep giving him another chance. I don't know why.
The one redeeming quality about this is the running theme of humans being "gods" and the food thinking they are going to paradise when they get purchased.
It encourages questioning everything, and not believing things just because some supposed authority told it to you.
The writers seemed to have the goal of targeting, and offending, every possible race/creed/stereotype, etc.
It's damn bizarre, and when it ended we were supremely dumbfounded. Like a bit of our brains fell out while watching this.
