Review of Saturn 3 (1980) by Kevin B — 24 Mar 2010
This has got to be one of the strangest filming exercises in cinema history. It's certainly tries to be original with its casting decisions along with attempting to seem audacious in the way the story is carried out.
Unfortunately, the direction by Stanley Donen (Singin' in the Rain; Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) leaves something to be desired. He appears to be lost in how this story is supposed to be told due to bad editing, unfortunate overdubbing, and a decidedly lackluster presentation.
..which is a shame considering some of the sets that were used. Still, it's a rather curious endeavor and recommended to those who are sci-fi junkies and love just about anything with Keitel. I personally love his early work.
With that being said.....you have been warned.
