Review of Saturday Night Fever (1977) by Richard C — 25 Jan 2014
One of those wonderful films that is so much better than it should have been. Fine performances by travolta, karen lynn gorney and donna pescow especially are set against a pulsating disco soundtrack that has so far sold 28 million copies worldwide.
It is however about much more than just the music as it is also an excellant coming of age story about the vulnerabilities of the human condition and the way the decisions we make effect the pattern of our lives. It is actually at times a very poigngant film that deals with tough issues that are as relevant now as they were then. Wonderful plots all work together without confusing the viewer and keeping you interested throughout. It is not just a piece of its time but a piece that is as important now as ever.
