Review of Saturday Night Fever (1977) by William B — 09 Jul 2010
A nice look at the 70s and various kinds of "struggling" people seen at those times. Not a story about the rich and famous, but the other end of the spectrum. A story of a person who never even thought that he needed to go to college to have a future.
And ofcourse, the best part of it is the Disco stuff and the Bee Gees soundtrack. The movie will keep you groovin' till the end. Speaking of which, the end is pretty, well, strange. It is quite inconclusive and feels like the director was trying too hard to make it look artsy.
However the references to things like 2001 A Space Odyssey and many other movies did show that the movie maker was not just an average guy. Well worth watching for the dance moves and the Disco culture stuff. Don't expect anything too deep from this, but it is infact, very enjoyable.
