Review of Sarah's Key (2010) by Daisy M — 18 Oct 2011
I have seen many good movies about the Holocaust in the past, such as The Pianist, Schindler's List, The Counterfeiters, The boy in the stripes pyamas, The Reader, all of them different in their style, but all with the same purpose, showing the brutality of the Holocaust, Now, Sarah's key, showed the French participation in the holocaust and how it affected two women: Sarah a young Jewish girl that during the WWII,locked her brother in a closet assuming she will come back to get him and a journalist who was researching the story years later and discovers how her own family was involved in war issues.
The movie was shott back and forth from the journalist's journey which was now and flashbacks what happened in the past in 1942. The holocaust affected those who lived at that time, who suffered deportation, even if they did not encounter death, they were deeply wounded in more ways than was imaginable.
I highly recommend this movie, the scenes, music and the flow of events were wonderful. The human suffering and the wounds of the war were very well portrayed and in more ways that any one of us will ever be able to understand.
