Review of Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic (2005) by Shannon B — 07 May 2008
The first time I saw this I was on a date with a pregnant black holocaust survivor with aids, needless to say our second date "just walking around downtown" lacked conversation.
Political correctness is gay, well actually it's a silly notion much like low-fat milk-shakes.
The term, to me, doesn't make much sense as it is commonly understood.
Political; a word of debated meaning, though often defined as the operation of power within a society and the delegation of that power. Correctness; the proper analysis of a problem or situation.
So, to be politically correct means that you are properly analyzing the delegation of power within society?...alright, no to bad I guess. Except that most people, me most likely included, would argue that someones perception that they have correctly analyzed society and decided that they should not say nigger becuase it gives the wrong people power, are in fact judged to be correct by the same people to whom they don't want to give power. In other words, in judging the teacher, it is problematic if you look to the teacher for feedback on your grading.
Correctly analyzing society has nothing to do with offensive adjectives, this leads to the better argument as to why being PC is for poor people.
That was the B argument as to why political correctness is Jewy. The A argument is that it goes against the idea of free- speech and is itself decided by the dominant political ideology, therefore limiting the possibility of outside analytical thought. Political correctness masks politics as a debate between how to categorize people, when politics should truly have little to do with what color people are or who they fuck.
You cant give the right of free speech, then take it back when it is personally offensive or hurts your ability to obtain power, thats Indian giving.
All in all, what we know as political correctness should be called cultural acceptance, though, since I believe that culture is no more than a template for those too dumb to create their own identity, I'm not willing to promote any sensitivity towards someones bedtime rituals.
