Review of Santa's Slay (2005) by Josh G — 09 Dec 2007
This would have worked a little better, I think, if they had taken a sort of Black Christmas approach to the material and made Santa a little more of a shadowy figure. Instead, Santa is like the main character and the whole thing seems to be played mainly for laughs. Granted, nobody is going to rent this for any reason but to get some good laughs, but I like it when bad horror movies are more earnest.
The body count is high here and that's good, but the silly nature of the film makes it hard to take them seriously.
All in all, an awesome idea that could have been done to better effect... but you take what you can. Merry X-Mas!
(P.S. There are plenty of holiday-related puns in this film to please even the most stubborn linguist in your family.).
