Review of Santa's Slay (2005) by Cassandra M — 11 Sep 2009
I found Santa's Slay in the budget priced DVD-bin, right where it should be. It's an entertaining movie with a few good laughs and it's cheap. What more can you possibly want? Don't expect too much from the leading role though, you'll get irritated with him sooner than you'll laugh with him.
All the fun you get from this film, is from the scenes with Goldberg. It's almost as if this movie was made for him. He's quite believable as the Clause from Hell and does a good job. All the deaths are quite hilarious and his one liners are quite funny too.
Keep an eye out for some guest appearances (James Caan, Fran Drescher,...) and you'll get even more laughs out of this flick. It can't even begin to stand up to other various holiday movies like Miracle On 34th Street, Santa Clause, Home Alone or even Die Hard, to name something completely different, but if you don't know what to watch, and you're in for a good time, take this one off your shelve and leave the rest.
Goldberg will 'scare the Dickens out of 'ya', as he so vigorously puts it :-).
