Review of Santa Claus: The Movie (1985) by Josh R — 23 Dec 2011

This was a bust on so many levels. I know that this film holds a lot of nostalgia for my generation but it's such a failure. It's not the fault of the players in the film; Huddleston is as close to perfect casting of the mythic character as anyone could ever be (and he gets the one star).

The problem lies in forcing the film to carry the wonder and miracle of Christmas by itself. Only Christ can fulfill that calling. Without Christ there is no Christmas; without Christ this story is lifeless and sucks the magic of Christmas right out of the heart.
