Review of Sans Soleil (1983) by Yogesh R — 25 Aug 2007
Chris Marker's film-essay escapes pretension by approaching deep questions with a sense of open-ended speculation and, more importantly, a sense of humor. (The "JFK Waltz" is one of the funniest things I have ever seen in any movie, ever.
) This film offers a far more respectful view of Japan and its culture than the blatantly xenophobic "Lost in Translation.".
