Review of Sans Soleil (1983) by Ryan M — 15 Nov 2007
An amazing, possibly lifechanging, essay/doc. Marker leads the viewer without leading much at all, letting the richness of the world reveal itself in a fugue of details over a variety of locations. The content is hard to describe - an essay of vignettes? Prose poetry? Investigative report? Philosophical treatise? Twenty-four years after the fact, this film still feels up to the minute.
I am in absolute awe.
