Review of Sans Soleil (1983) by Rachel B — 09 Oct 2009
This essay film is insightful and meditative at its best, and boring pretentious meandering at its worst. I find the female voiceover problematic, as her reading the letters from the man going off on these adventures implies to me that this is a classic tale of a white man from a Western nation retreating into the exotic to find himself, while the woman waits for him.
