Review of Sand and Sorrow (2007) by Frances G — 23 Apr 2008
Narrated by George Clooney, it takes a close look at the Darfur genocide. Not only is it powerful and troubling in the way you would expect, but the reasons for the lack of action are truly dismaying - a desire to finish a peace process, the cozy relationship between CIA and Sudanese intelligence agencies due to the "Global War on Terror". It is heartening to see young people, ranging from junior high school through college taking the issues seriously and pushing for change.
A must see.
