Review of Sanctum (2011) by Joyce P — 07 Jul 2011
Apart from the great concept, there isn't too much I liked about Sanctum. Which is a shame because it was a little hyped up due to it being produced by James Cameron, director of the excellent movies Avatar and Titanic.
Needless to say, James Cameron can do much better than this. It's not that this movie didn't have a load of potential. The special effects are quite impressive and the cinematography is great as well.
I might have enjoyed this a lot more had I seen this in 3D. It wouldn't be enough for me to recommend or like this film though. The script is extremely hammy and the acting is flat as well. Plus, the story is quite predictable.
Overall, I can't give this a pass because there is a lot of lost potential here. Visually, it's very impressive, but it's really nothing special in the end.
