Review of Sanctum (2011) by Mike D — 18 Feb 2012
The only real thing 'Sanctum' has going for it (besides James Cameron's name being thinly associated with it) is the breathtaking scenery that ancient, unexplored caverns provide. Other than that, the movie is a complete waste.
The C-list cast delivers D-list performances, and the dialogue makes anything in a George Lucas film seem Shakespearean. Even the supposedly harrowing scenes come off looking pretty cheesy, and the predictability of the "ten little indians" plot line has been overdone to the bone, especially in bad slasher films.
Back when it was in theaters, 'Sanctum' was probably worth half of the price for admission to see it in IMAX, but on the small screen, it comes across as pathetic at best.
