First off I am surprised that so many critics disliked this one, unbelievable! I watched it in blu-ray format (frankly all movies should come in this format. Let's get rid of dvd for good) and the aerial shots of Papa Guinea and the cave's opening from the top was IMPRESSING! OMG, sharp, clear images both outside and inside.

Second, if James Cameron is associated with a motion picture then its bound to be good. He has established a solid, undisputable reputation as one of Hollywood's best directors, producers and writers! Avatar was a masterpiece and this one comes very close if it wasn't for the tragic sequence of events.

Cameron has a friend named Andrew Wight that is an underwater cave diver and this movie is inspired by events that happened to Wight's expedition that trapped him and his team underground after a freak flood.

Sanctum is basically a psychological drama of survival in a unique, exotic environment. It follows a team of cave divers exploring the world's largest cave system in the remote jungles of Papa Guinea.

ESA'ALA IS THE MOTHER OF ALL CAVES FOLKS!! I have not seen anything like that! Personally the only caves I like exploring are above ground with a team or alone if the area is not remote. This film reveals the beauty, wonder and fear that comes from exploring underwater caves especially at such depth! The film is shot in the Australian coastline and great job by director Alister Grierson.

The acting was good as well but what I loved the most is the psychologica aspect of it. In other words our human condition under pressure..how are we going to react under certain circumstances, are we going to live or let die? If you are expecting to see sea monsters or creatures then this is not your type of film.

I liked something in the script pertaining to the relationship between father and son- it was a strained relationship but the son at the end of the orderal understood the brave and courageous father he had.

He "met his father for the first time"...kind of words...SANCTUM is terrific and again if it had not been for its tragic ending, I would award this one five stars!! Bravo Mr. Cameron, another hit in your brilliant film career! NOT TO BE MISSED!
