Review of Samurai Rebellion (1967) by Ted C — 01 Jan 2008
Another excellent samurai film brought to us by the Criterion Collection and legendary Masaki Kobayashi and starring and even more legendary Toshiro Mifune who is an absolute badass in every film he is in (God, why didn't he take the Obi-Wan Kenobi role, WHY!!!).
This film is purposely slow paced to built up to the monumental climax that, in the end, is a very tragic love story seen through the eyes of a grandfather who is moved by this young love he never had the chance to experience.
Great movie.
