I'd probably give this a higher rating if I hadn't been so tired when I watched it. Even so, I was impressed. Mifune is one of the greatest actors in film history and this has one of his best performances.
Kobayashi's operatic vision does wonders for the narrative. I'll definitely be viewing this again.
