Review of Samsara (2011) by Will C — 23 Dec 2012
Among the most visually stunning films I've ever seen. Despite having no traditional plot or cast, this managed to keep my eyes glued to the screen for almost 2 hours straight. It's a film about beauty and cruelty in both nature and man, and nothing more.
Simple premise, yet powerfully conveyed due to its presentation. This seemed to bring about an altered state of consciousness in me, and any film that can do that is truly special in my book. I also feel a burning desire to create more ambient music because this film's soundtrack was largely ambient and fit extraordinarily well with the visuals, lending a beautiful synchronous mood to the on-screen spectacles.
When the Blu-Ray of this comes out in a couple of weeks, I'm definitely going to purchase a copy so I can watch it again and again. This is certainly one of those films that I want to see more than once.
