Review of Samsara (2011) by Gina G — 05 Jan 2013
The best film of the year! I went to see Samsara a few months ago and I purposely went alone, not knowing what to expect. The slow, visual silent images of houses lost in a sandstorm were disturbing in a beautiful way.
The images of our world, more often than not unseen by most of us who populate it, nonjudgmental, lyrical, stunning, shocking, grotesque...and real. Within the first fifteen minutes, I had wished I brought someone with me, as I knew I was witnessing something life-changing, an experience I suddenly wanted to share.
it is rare when a film is affirmed as a life changing experience, but this one is that. Seeing Samsara will change you. For better, for worse, this is our world, in all its realness.
