Review of Same Kind of Different as Me (2017) by Shari C — 19 Oct 2017
I saw an advance screening. The professional critics seem ridiculously full of themselves in this case. I didn't read the book, and was still thoroughly moved by the film. The performances were all excellent--I don't know why one critic said John Voight "phoned in" his performance.
How should it have been different? I also don't know why the critics are branding it as a religious film. It has a spiritual aspect to it, but it was not made to be a "religious" film. The faith-oriented film distributor picked it up only after Paramount Pictures backed out, likely because they listened to some critics' holier than thou--pun intended--feedback.
If you'd like to have an inspiring, heart-opening experience, see this film!
