Review of Same Kind of Different as Me (2017) by Vicki H — 20 Oct 2017
We were touched and inspired by this powerful movie. Seasoned and respected actors Djimon Hounsou, Renee Zellweger, Greg Kinnear and Jon Voight bring this true story to life and keep the viewer's interest throughout.
The faith component is not heavy-handed; rather it realistically reflects the motivation behind Deborah's unwavering love of and commitment to both her straying husband and a violence-prone homeless man.
The movie--based on a NYT best-selling book by Lynn Vincent, Ron Hall and Denver Moore--does not hide the flaws of the main characters, but shows how love and perseverance truly can overcome even huge differences.
The movie helps us see, through Denver's eyes, how others we encounter are the "same kind of different as me.".
