Review of Same Kind of Different as Me (2017) by Rick C — 19 Oct 2017
This is an amazingly nuanced film about a broken woman with immense heart who sparked an unlikely friendship that's one for the ages. The stellar performances by Kinnear, Zellweger, Hounsou and Voight veer from bravado to desperado, sparking both laughter and tears, along with deep soul-searching.
Some of the best scenes are those in which no words are spoken, courtesy of the director who bravely let the camera linger. Prepare yourself to be moved from the inside out by this timely, very honest human drama, based on a true story that became a runaway New York Times bestseller.
