Review of Salvatore Giuliano (1962) by Christopher S — 27 Apr 2009
Bland fact-based Italian political thriller seems to be more interested in reenacting events and espousing politics than telling a compelling story. Nice black and white cinematography and some strong imagery make for a handful of somewhat effective moments - but no characters ever really come into focus, and the plot is little more than a history lesson, making the whole film devoid of any drama, suspense, or tension.
It's also very slow-paced, with many long shots that linger on and on. Not a terrible movie, but a chore to sit through.
