Review of Salvador (1986) by Matthew W — 17 Dec 2009
One of Stone's better movies, along with "JFK" and "W", still carries the director's signature of pointing fingers but the film isn't quite as one-sided as you'd think.
The focus is protagonist Richard Boyle, great performance from Woods, and his turn from washed-up photojournalist into die hard truth-hunter. The growth of his character isn't 100% believable, but Woods still pulls it off and Stone makes terrific use of location to create an enthralling film.
Belushi is reduced to the role of "The Friend" and ultimately pointless.
