Review of Saludos Amigos (1942) by David B — 06 Nov 2007
Disney Classics Marathon - Saludos Amigos.
Saludos Amigos is the shortest of the films listed in the Disney Classics at around 48 minutes. The film was produced during World War Two and was produced to help American viewers learn more about thier southern counterparts.
The film itself combines animated segments related to various areas of Southern America combined with archive footage of disney artists researching for the film.
Although the film is interesting to watch it doesn't linger in the mind long after viewing. Perhaps the only element that does is the character of Joe Carioca who would return in Disney's next feature "The Three Caballeros".
3/5.
