Review of Salto (1965) by Sam N — 22 Mar 2008
This is a haunting teen-coming-of-age film that left me thinking about the difficulties all young people face regarding precarious misguided sexual negotiations in exchange for love and affection as well the consequences of those decisions.
The film also does a good job in highlighting the personal growth that can result from honest personal assessment and candor in the face of repressive elements. Polished acting (Abbie Cornish is so credible as the confused teen)and skillful direction made this a surprisingly good film.
