Review of Salaam Bombay! (1988) by Jenny U — 14 Jul 2008
Brilliant and heartbreaking movie about people living on the streets of Bombay, told from the viewpoint of an 11-year old kid living on the streets. While trying to raise enough money to return home, he falls in with a variety of fellow street-dwellers, from other children to druggies to prostitutes.
Brilliantly directed by Mira Nair and immaculately acted out by a main cast of non-professionals. Just a flawless film.
