Review of Safety Not Guaranteed (2012) by Chris S — 12 Mar 2013
"Safety Not Guaranteed" is such a good film that it changed my mind about Aubrey Plaza, an actress whose deadpan style I wasn't a big fan of. Here, her monotonous vocal tone and facial expressions work well with her character.
Also, Derek Connolly's script is immensely likable and original and funny, and it's well-executed by Colin Trevorrow, who accomplishes so much on such a small budget. Granted, there are parts in "Safety Not Guaranteed" that stray into your typical indie drivel, but for the most part, it's absorbing, well-acted and thoughtful.
