Review of Safety Not Guaranteed (2012) by Westleigh Q — 19 Jul 2013
Out of left field, that's where this movie came from. I wasn't expecting to like this film anywhere near as much as I did, especially when I'd already typecast three out of the four main characters from their stints on sitcom television.
The most surprising for me was how far Aubrey Plaza was able to take me from constantly thinking of her as the acerbic chick on Parks and Rec. She's now become someone that will get me to watch anything she's in.
The plot of the movie is pretty simple; a journalist takes two interns on a road trip to find out the real story behind a guy who put an ad in the classifieds looking for an assistant with which to travel back in time.
Distinct characterizations, funny dialogue, no fat on the script... Just a really good movie.
