Review of Safety Not Guaranteed (2012) by Marshall C — 04 Aug 2014
Terrific indipendent comedy about Seattle magazine intern traveling with a reporter and another intern to a small town to follow-up on a mysterious classified ad seeking someone to join him in traveling back in time.
Bring your own weapon and safety not guaranteed. Aubrey Plaza is great and shows she has more to offer than her funny moody character on "Parks and Rec" as the intern who pretends to answer the ad.
The film could have simply mocked the would be time traveller, Mark Duplass, but what sets this comedy/drama apart is that it takes time to get to know the character and make the audience really like and sympathize with him.
Jake Johnson plays the reporter who Plaza is interning with and Kristen Bell also has a memorable cameo. So if you liked this film, you can look forwad to this film's director and writer's next project which is the next Jurassic Park film (?).
