Review of Safety Not Guaranteed (2012) by Ben B — 01 Sep 2014
While it may seem like its trying to be intentionally odd, 'Safety Not Guaranteed' manages to hit home with its natural charm and a talented and dedicated cast. Darius (Aubrey Plaza) is sent with two of her colleagues to investigate the story of an eccentric man (Mark Duplass) who believes he can travel in time.
What comes out of the investigation is an unrequited and unexpected love story. The initially awkward (fittingly) chemistry between Plaza and Duplass brings this movie's plot home. Duplass' character Kenneth initially looks like an eccentric but this film reminds us that you cannot judge a book by its cover.
Duplass is excellent. Give this charming little film a try and you will not regret it. Another great Netflix find!
