Review of Safe House (2012) by Alan Fong D — 21 Aug 2012
Despite all the mixed reactions from critics and audiences alike, I did actually enjoy this one. Pitting Denzel Washington against Ryan Reynolds, and Voila! You got yourself an action-packed thriller filled with consistent solid performances and explosive scenarios.
The plot and the twist might just be too rapid to be digested, but once the dust settles by the end, you'll know you just finish a roller-coaster ride. Filming in Cape Town, South Africa has definitely breathed refreshing concept into the already stale New York/California/U.
S. backdrop. However, on the down side, the shaky-cam mode during the action sequences were quite a mess, but maybe that's what happens in reality, when experience becomes really pulsating and things get unpredictably swift and blurry at the same time.
